While the plant is in operation, the set pressure of pressurised relief valves is inspected and adjusted with the Legatest method. During a service outage, the set pressure of non-pressurised valves can be adjusted in a so-called cold test.
The device measures the adjusted spring force which starts to open the valve. There is no need to interfere with the normal operation of theplant while the measure is performed. The test takes place under operatingconditions. If the valve is under- or overadjusted, it is adjusted to the correct set pressure. The device records the necessary information from the valve and stores it in the data unit. Finally, the approved test is printed on paper. The report will indicate the correct results both numerically and graphically. The testing is supervised by an external inspector of an assigned plant.
